
"belief in human capacity for change, inherent worth and dignity of every individual, unique and social characteristics of humans" the core values of social work. you'll have only the really kind-hearted and compassionate and positive and non-critical people as coursemates if you major in this. people like me who criticise policies non-stop belong in a different major. i.e. economics where the base assumption is that everybody makes decisions based on SELF-benefit. if you take away that assumption, there goes ALL the theories and models of economics.
even the humblest demand-supply model cannot stand if the market in that model is made up of social workers. that being said, its not a bad thing if these models fail, the world needs more than econs. but econs is, mostly, what its going to get.
