an update's overdue. i've got so many pictures to share, yet none of them have been quite able to reflect my thoughts. been having an amazing week, in terms of outreach and fun and learning. will do a post on the coffee house when i get proper pics. its amazing. but anyway, this shack actually had an address.
it was one of many that we visited in the huge area surrounding the church in Ga-Rangkuwa. and i remember, as we approached this particular one, the empty door seemed to beckon. "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?"
the seclusion of this house brings the meaning of this verse to a whole new level. but simultaneously, highlighted my audacity. who are we "helpers"? we who blitz into countries and communities, wanting to help in OUR way? never really listening, nor understanding?
dear sir, could you tell me?
do you live here?
what is your name?
where are you from?
and where are you going?
did you know?
the God of this universe is waiting?
for your return to His embrace?
when will you go?
what made you leave?
has the world really been such a cruel place?
enlighten me, please.
i will never truly know,
my heart is telling me,
i've only been watching a show.
so what is it like?
being on the outside?
having scrap iron for a ceiling?
yet having heaven as your roof?
one moment of your time sir,
sit me down with a cup of tea, or water,
could i please hear your story?
i have nothing to give or to judge,
because in this life, i'm a fellow traveller,
but i have found my source of hope,
and given our differences,
this is all i have to offer.
